Standards
Stemming from the recent downturn in the American economy, there has been a major shift in financial literacy education. Eighty percent of states now have adopted personal finance education standards or guidelines of some kind (NEFE). State education departments around the country are creating financial literacy education frameworks to be implemented into schools along with graduation requirements for k-12 and post-secondary education.
Additionally, the Financial Literacy and Education Commission (FLEC) set forth a framework, Promoting Financial Success in the United States: National Strategy 2011, to promote the foundation for a national financial literacy strategy.
